In 2019, after careful review of existing City ordinances, study of other cities ordinances around the state, and input from the community, the City Council passed a new parking ordinance, restricting parking along public streets in certain circumstances. This ordinance was subsequently updated in January 2025, and may be found in Title 6, Chapter 2, Sections 7-10 of the City Code.
The parking ordinance and enforcement are intended to enhance safety by encouraging compliance with parking regulations. Citation fees are not intended to create a new revenue source, but are expected to cover the administrative costs associated with parking enforcement and compliance. If violations are observed, the City will issue a notice of violation, and may tow vehicles that repeatedly violate City parking regulations.
